Southern Missouri Fishing Report
Southern Missouri had a lot of flooding early in the year. The banks on Current were easier walking without it being as thick and as many thorns to tear holes in your waders. Much more convenient getting to certain stretches of the water. The waters have been clear as usual but we had a couple rainy days while we were there.
The fishing was very good with the water a little murky. The trout didn't spook as easy. We fished from Tan Vat up, and Baptist down. My brother always runs a John Deere colored jig close to the bottom and cleans up. It's a guaranteed on Current. I was stripping bead head olive buggers and landed some nice ones. I especially did well stripping from the bank over.
There were some hatches but the dry fly was fishing a little slow. I even threw the mouse for awhile trying to get a toad to hit. The good deep holes as still there and look much the same. Olive colors seem to be working best now, and on most occasions there. If you head there don't overlook Parker access. You won't catch as many but there are some good runs there along with some healthy trout.
