SA Freshwater/Saltwater Fluorocarbon Tapered Leader: Product Review
Look, I know there is great debate on whether or not Fluorocarbon is invisible in water. While I’m not in the camp of completely invisible, they are for sure darn tough to see. Most rivers are getting into their summer flows. That means our presentations need to be stealthier.
I’ve been using SA’s Fluoro leader for a few weeks now as our local rivers have gotten pretty technical pretty quickly. I live in Cutthroat trout territory. Cutties love a dry fly. I have to say, I haven’t had issue one with the leaders floating ability. Whether nylon or fluoro, whenever I dress my fly with float, I just slide my fingers up the leader a bit. I really seems to do the trick.
The nice thing I like about these leaders is their strength. This time of year, I’m not only shifting to Fluoro, but I’m going for 4x and 5x down to 6x. The extra strength can be the difference between hookset and fish and digging in your box for another fly.
Give it a go. It’s a great product. I am a believer for sure.
