Zonker, Lead Eye, Gold-Yellow

The Yellow Gold Lead Eye Zonker is the go to fly for aggressive fish that will attack a bright color. Fall brown trout and many other aggressive fish love this bright minnow imitation. The heavy lead eyes make it easy to fish this screaming Yellow Zonker near the bottom.  Dan Byford is credited with tying the first Zonker back in the mid 1970’s, and it remains a staple fly pattern to this day. Much like the Clouser Minnow, the Zonker is an extremely versatile baitfish pattern that has accounted for a wide variety of fresh and saltwater species across the globe, and can be actively retrieved or dead-drifted with equal success.
