Euro Jig Pheasant Tail

The "Jig" style nymph has been used for years on the european competition circuit.  Tied on on a tungsten bead jig, this "hook up" approach to nymphing allow you to get to the bottom without all the snags.  Commonly used as part of a tighlining rig used in tandem with our Czech nymph patterns.  RiverBum is bringing these top performing flies to the US.

The pheasant tail nymph is one of the most productive mayfly nymph patterns.  The peacock thorax on this nymph also gives it a bit of iridescent flash that makes it an effective attractor fly and a great searching pattern.  I really like pairing this nymph with our Czech Nymph Green Pea pattern.  The combination is one of most productive where mayflies and scuds are prevalent in the watershed.
